My prep work for figuring Milan’s gameplan
Honestly, this Liverpool vs AC Milan thing had my brain buzzing all week. Kept wondering how my guys (big Milan fan here!) would handle those fast Liverpool attackers. So I grabbed my notebook – yeah, the messy one with coffee stains – and got down to some serious digging.
First thing I did was park myself on the couch and watch like five of Milan’s recent Serie A games back-to-back. Skipped the boring parts – just fast-forwarded to where they actually had the ball or were defending hard. Scrawled stuff down like crazy:
- Saw how Theo Hernandez kept sprinting down the left like a madman every single time.
- Noticed Giroud basically becoming a giant wall up front, holding the ball forever.
- That midfield trio… man, Tonali was everywhere!
Then I pulled up some Liverpool matches from this season. Painful to watch ’em tear teams apart sometimes, gotta admit. Focused on how they attacked wide areas – Trent and Robertson whipping those crosses in, Salah cutting inside constantly. Made a note in BIG LETTERS: STOP SALAH INSIDE.
How Milan can actually hurt Liverpool
Sipping my cold coffee, the pieces started clicking. Milan ain’t gonna out-pass Liverpool. Nah. Gotta play smart and tough. Here’s what I scribbled out as our best shot:
- Fight Fire with Fire: Theo and Florenzi HAVE to push up high. Scares Liverpool’s fullbacks back. That opens space for Giroud to link up or Leao to explode.
- Midfield Battle Zone: Saw Tonali and Bennacer winning loads of loose balls. Need them doing that ALL NIGHT. Break up play, win it, quick pass forward. No messing about.
- Salah Jam: Seriously, don’t let him cut in. Calabria or whoever’s there needs to show him outside into traffic. Force him to pass or cross awkwardly. Praying hard for this one.
- Set Piece Secret Weapon: Giroud, Tomori – they’re monsters in the air! Got to make corners and free kicks count. That’s a clear weak spot for Liverpool if we deliver right.
My gut feeling after all this
After days glued to my laptop screen, feeling kinda fried now. Will Milan stick to their usual ways? Or try something weird? Pioli loves his 4-2-3-1, feels solid. Giroud up top for muscle. Tonali & Bennacer battling. Leao to run his legs off. Expecting a proper scrap in midfield honestly – blood and thunder stuff.
The real risk? Going toe-to-toe with Liverpool’s crazy attack for 90 minutes. The boys have looked tired sometimes. Hope they can keep those sprints going til the final whistle. If Theo goes charging again and leaves Salah wide open… yeah, we’re toast.
All this homework gave me a headache, but honestly? Think Milan can shock ’em. Need big performances everywhere, keep it tight at the back, and grab any half-chance we get. Might just nick it if the stars align. Gonna be one helluva watch, that’s for sure!
