How I Actually Snagged Those West Aurora Tickets
Alright, so my kid is totally hyped up about West Aurora football season starting. Like, non-stop talking about the big home game against whoever. Problem was, I had zero clue how to even get tickets for this thing. Figured it couldn’t be that hard, right? Boy, was I wrong at first.
My first thought was just head down to the school. Simple. So last Tuesday afternoon, I drove over to West Aurora High thinking I’d grab a couple of tickets real quick. Walked up to what looked like the main office door – locked solid. Peeked through the window, saw a lady working inside. Knocked, waved, she kinda shook her head and pointed at a sign taped to the window.
I leaned in closer. The sign basically said “Tickets NOT sold at school during summer hours.” Dang it. So much for Plan A. Stood there feeling kinda stupid for a minute.
Got back to my car, pulled out my phone, and went digging. Searched “West Aurora Football Schedule how to buy tickets.” That got me to the official school athletic page eventually. Took some clicking around, felt like a maze sometimes, but I found the 2023 varsity football schedule listed. Finally!
Scrolled down, looking specifically for that home game date. Found it. Clicked on the little “ticket” icon next to it. That took me… guess where? Straight to Ticketmaster. Seriously. Didn’t even know high school sports used Ticketmaster like that, thought it was just for big concerts. My bad.
This is where it got tricky. The Ticketmaster page showed me ticket options, but it wasn’t actually letting me choose seats like I expected for a stadium. It was more like picking a “General Admission” section or sometimes just “Adults” or “Students/Seniors.” Prices were around $8-$10 bucks for adults, cheaper for the kid. Okay, manageable. But the interface? Man, it felt clunky on my phone. Page kept reloading weirdly. Almost threw my phone once, ngl.
Picked the right category (Adult + Student). Hit “find tickets.” Then it made me sign in or create an account. Remembering passwords is my nightmare, but I managed. Then it asked for my credit card details. Phew, got through that.
Here’s something important I only realized later: the confirmation. I paid, got the email receipt from Ticketmaster, cool. But the actual tickets weren’t attached! Instead, it gave me a barcode number and said “Mobile Entry Only”. Meaning they won’t have paper tickets at the gate for me. Gotta pull up the Ticketmaster app on game day and show the barcode from there. My kid freaked thinking we didn’t have tickets until I opened the app and showed him the barcode sitting right there in my account. Double-check the app after buying!
Oh, and another big tip – totally learned this after the fact from another parent at Little League. Some games, especially the big rivalries, sell out FAST, like days before. Don’t be like me nearly messing up. If it’s a big game, check Ticketmaster early in the week.
That’s basically it. Went from driving around clueless to having those digital barcodes sitting on my phone. Feels good now, but man, it felt like more work than getting concert tickets sometimes! Hope this helps someone else figure it out faster than I did.
