Museum Liverpool FC Opening Hours & Tour Plan for Football Fans

Right, so yesterday I finally did the Liverpool FC Museum and Tour thing I’d been planning forever. Got up proper early because I heard tickets sell quick, especially match days. Jumped on the train from town centre, was packed with other football shirts – felt good.

Sorting Tickets & Getting In

First hurdle: Finding the actual entrance. The stadium’s massive, walked around like a lost sheep for ten minutes before spotting the sign for the ‘Anfield Experience’. Pro tip: look for the huge Shankly Gates, that’s the spot. Queued up outside for maybe 20 minutes – not bad. Tickets cost a bit more than I thought, but what can you do? Paid up for the Museum + Tour combo, obviously.

Inside the Museum

Wow, just wow. Walked in and bam, right away you see the European Cups. Glowing in their cases. They’ve got loads of shirts, old boots, medals – proper history. Spent ages looking at Stevie G’s boots from Istanbul 2005. That Champions League final shirt… goosebumps. Read loads of stories about the old legends like Kenny and Rushie. They had this cool interactive table thing where you could flick through old match programmes and watch classic goals. Spent too long there.

  • Found all the signed shirts hanging from the ceiling – impressive.
  • Watched clips from Hillsborough. Really sobering. Felt important to be there.
  • The “This Means More” wall? Yeah, got a cheesy photo. Had to!

The Stadium Tour Part

Met the tour guide – bloke called Gary, season ticket holder for 30 years. Knew his stuff, full of passion and cheeky jokes. First stop was the press room. Sat in the manager’s seat. Felt tiny under those lights! Then through the tunnel – you walk out like the players do, to that ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ music. Magic moment, honestly. Felt like a hero for two seconds. Got goosebumps again.

Then we went pitchside. Couldn’t walk on it obviously, but just standing there looking up at the Kop… massive. Saw the nets get switched by the groundsman – proper match setup. After that it was the Home Dressing Room. Actually sat in Mo Salah’s spot! Pretty sure it was his name on the peg. Gary told us about how it changed on match days. Seats were tiny!

  • Peeped into the players’ lounge. Very plush.
  • Walked past the away dressing room – Gary said it’s kept colder on purpose? Dunno if true.
  • Kop end close up is intimidating – can see why teams crumble.

Wrapping Up & Thoughts

The shop afterwards? Dangerous. Resisted buying a £70 jacket but did get a mug and keyring. Proper buzzing but feet already tired. Spent close to 4 hours in total! Grabbed a pie near the ground afterwards – needed refuelling.

Honest verdict? Best stadium tour I’ve done. Period. Felt it properly, especially walking out that tunnel. Got loads of photos (mostly of the cups!). For any football fan, even if you just like the game, it’s worth every penny. Forget just seeing stuff, you feel the history. Just remember comfy shoes!
