Arsenal announce 17 players leaving the club

Following the conclusion of the 2024/25 Premier League season, Arsenal Football Club has officially announced the list of players remaining with the club and those departing for the upcoming 2025/26 season. This marks a significant overhaul of the Gunners’ squad ahead of the new campaign.

A total of 17 players will leave the Emirates Stadium. They come from the first team, the women’s team, and the youth academy. This adjustment is an important personnel change for head coach Mikel Arteta.

One of the most talked-about first-team players is veteran midfielder Jorginho. According to previous media reports, he will join Brazilian club Flamengo on a free transfer when his contract expires.
Although he is experienced and can bring stability to the midfield, his age means he is no longer part of the club’s future plans.

Another player who has confirmed his departure is full-back Kieran Tierney. The Scotland international spent most of last season on loan at La Liga side Real Sociedad and has now agreed terms with another club and is set to complete his move.

In addition, two players on loan will also return to their original clubs. These include Neto from Bournemouth and Chelsea player Raheem Sterling.

In addition to these first-team players, the club has also decided to terminate the contracts of 13 youth players. These young players include: Nathan Butler-Oyedele, Reece Claremont, Kayon Edwards, Jae-Kae Fisher,Romari Ford, Jimmy Goul, Jack Henry-Francis, Max Kuchinski, Salah Eddin Oladele Mhande, Ismail Mhande, Brian Okonkwo, Elian Quisada-Thorn, and Zakaria Shuaib.

Notably, there had been rumors that Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey might leave the club this summer, but the situation now appears to have changed. According to the latest reports, he is currently in negotiations with the club regarding a contract extension. Despite his advancing age, his running ability, physical fitness, and technical skills continue to be highly regarded by the coaching staff, and he has also occasionally played as a right-back.

In women’s football, three players—Tia Gordi, Lina Hettig, and Amanda Ilestait—will also be ending their careers at Arsenal.

Summary:

This summer, Arsenal will undergo a significant squad overhaul. While several players are departing, this also creates opportunities for new signings. Fans are already looking forward to next season, hoping the team can make further progress after strengthening its squad.
