Winger Jadon Sancho recently posted a heartfelt message on social media about his feelings after being sent back to Manchester United by Chelsea.Although he was only with the Blues for one season, the experience left him with a lot of emotions and memories.
Sancho wrote on his Instagram account, “I’m really grateful for this time at Chelsea.Thank you to my teammates, the coaching staff and the fans, you made me feel at home.I wish Chelsea all the best for the future and I will always support you.”
The comments come after Chelsea decided not to buy out Sancho. He originally joined Chelsea on loan from Manchester United last summer, with a £25m buyout clause included in his contract. But that clause came with a precondition – it only required Chelsea to officially sign Sancho if they could qualify for next season’s Champions League.

In the end, Chelsea did finish fourth in the Premier League, earning the chance to play in next season’s Champions League. But instead of opting to buy out the England international, they decided to send him back to Manchester United. In doing so, Chelsea would have had to pay a £5 million liquidated damages.
According to British media outlet The Athletic, Sancho’s loan contract will officially end on June 30th.The transfer did not move forward as the two sides failed to agree on a personal deal.Currently, Sancho is considering his next plan, and may stay in England or go to other European countries to find new opportunities.
In his one season with Chelsea, Sancho made 42 appearances, scoring five goals and dishing out 10 assists. His performances helped the team finish fourth in the Premier League in the 2024/25 season and also beat Real Betis in the English League Cup final.
Nonetheless, Sancho’s time at Stamford Bridge came to an end. There will undoubtedly be a lot of interest in the 25-year-old’s next transfer move.
Looking back at Sancho’s career, he joined Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 for a whopping £85 million. However, performances with the Red Devils never lived up to outside expectations. Now back at United, he may not stay for a long period of time either, but will opt for a new team that suits his development better.
Overall, Sancho is now at a critical junction in his career.Whether he stays in England or goes to other European leagues, he needs to find an environment where he can perform at his best.
