Right, I noticed this morning that Leicester and Man Utd are neck-and-neck in the charts somewhere. Needed to see who’s actually ahead, like, right now. Seemed straightforward, but figuring out the exact spots? Took a bit more fiddling than I expected.
My First Try Was Just Typing Like Crazy
Grabbed my phone first thing. Opened Chrome, you know? Typed “Leicester Man Utd standings” straight into Google. Hit search.
Boom. Tons of news articles popped up. Saw “Crucial Match!” and “Battle for Position!” headlines everywhere. Clicked a few. Annoying! Most just talked about past games or player injuries. Some mentioned the points totals briefly, but none gave me a clear picture of where they sat in the table compared to others right this second. Kept scrolling through results, got distracted by transfer rumors – total time waste.
Switched Gears to the Actual League Website
Decided maybe the proper source was the league itself. Couldn’t remember the exact website name for the English leagues off the top of my head. Thought it was ‘Premier League’ or something? Searched “England top football league official site”. Found it pretty quick in the results. Clicked through.
The homepage was flashy, loads of videos and news. Scrolled down, hunting for “Tables” or “Standings”. Spotted a small menu link saying “Tables” near the top. Clicked that.
Finally! There it was – the whole ladder, all teams listed with points, wins, goals… everything. Scanned down, found Leicester City… saw Manchester United just below them. Clicked the actual table itself once – it sorted by position, points… easy. Took a screenshot for later. Much clearer.
Thought About Those Sports Apps
Remembered I have one of those big sports apps installed (the one with the blue logo). Opened it up. The main screen showed highlight clips. Tapped the little league icon at the bottom to get to competitions. Scrolled, found the English Premier League. Opened that section.
Sure enough, right at the top of that league page, it said “Standings”. Tapped it. Loaded pretty fast. Same info as the website, just cleaner on the phone. Scrolled up and down again, confirmed Leicester above Man Utd. Could also see things like form guide (those little green and red symbols next to their names) which was kinda useful.
Then I Checked the Social Buzz (Kinda)
Wondered if the clubs themselves would just shout about it. Fired up my Twitter (or whatever it’s called this week). Typed “Manchester United official” and found their handle. Scrolled their feed. Loads of match photos, ticket sales, merch stuff. Nothing about their current standing position today. Tried “Leicester City FC” official handle. Same thing – lots of noise about the next match, player features, but no obvious “We are currently Xth!” post. Useless for a quick standing check.
Last Idea: The Clubs’ Own Sites?
Thought, “Maybe their websites have a league table section?” Went back to Google. Searched “Leicester City official site”. Clicked the top result. Website is slick, mainly about tickets, the stadium, club news. Poked around the menus: “Team”, “Fixtures”, “News”… nada for a direct league table view. Found a tiny link in the footer called “Competitions” leading back to the main league site I already visited! Manchester United’s site was basically the same – tons of content, but finding the actual current league position on their own turf? Buried deep or absent. Way more hassle than it’s worth.
So, What Actually Works Best?
Here’s the lowdown after my scavenger hunt:
- Google Fu Mostly Fails: Typing “standings” mostly throws news at you. Skip it for live tables.
- League Site Wins: Go direct to the official Premier League site and hit the “Tables” link. Simple.
- Major Sports App Runner-Up: If you’ve got it (like the blue one, or similar big names), open the league section inside the app, standings are right there.
- Forget Club Sites (Mostly): Too cluttered for finding the table. They might link back to the league site eventually.
- Social Media (Official) Is Noise: Clubs don’t post their position daily, it’s all hype and info bits. Not reliable for this.
Honestly, just bookmark the actual Premier League “Tables” page. Piece of cake once you know where to look. Took me longer than it should have to realize the obvious source! Forget the rest.
