Manchester City have recently welcomed an exciting new face to the club – 19-year-old Argentinean starlet Claudio Echeverri. He made his City debut in the FA Cup final, and although the match didn’t end well, the youngster’s performance was a revelation.
The match was between Man City and Crystal Palace, and Man City finally lost the match with 0-1. From the whole match, Man City actually had quite a few chances, but luck didn’t seem to be on their side. For example, if the opposing goalkeeper Henderson had been red-carded earlier, or if the penalty kick in the first half had been taken by Harland instead of Mamouche, maybe the result of the match would have been different.
Moreover, Henderson performed very well in the game, pouncing on many City shots, which allowed Crystal Palace to hold on for the win. It can be said that this match was full of regretful moments for City, “If only ……”.
However, there was one bright spot in the loss, and that was the debut of Echeverri. The young Argentinean player, finally in a City shirt, made his first appearance in an official game. He was subbed in as the game was approaching the 76th minute, when City had fallen behind and desperately needed a goal.

Although he failed to help his team equalize, he has shown his potential from his performance. Mind you, this was his first appearance in an important final, and instead of panicking in the face of so much pressure, he showed a lot of confidence.
In a short period of time, he created some threatening attacks and came close to breaking through a few times, but unfortunately they were all blocked by the opposing goalkeeper. As a 19-year-old player, it’s rare for him to step up and take responsibility at such a crucial moment.
Although he did not score or assist this time, but he showed the skills and courage, has let everyone see his future possibilities. Guardiola also said that sending him on the field is a correct decision: “He played very well, can find a breakthrough in such a narrow space, that he understands the game very well. I’ve been watching his training and he does have great creativity.”
For fans, it was a joy to see Echeverri play in a City shirt. While this is just the beginning of his career, this game certainly sets the stage for his future.
Many believe that he will mature with time and maybe one day he will be the one who saves the team in crucial moments. And that day may not be too far away.
