In an exciting FA Cup semi-final, Crystal Palace advanced to the final with a 3-0 win over Aston Villa. Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner led his team to play a very good game, especially the performances of Eberechi Eze and Ismaila Sarr.
For the first thirty minutes of the match, both teams played cautiously and the pitch was relatively flat with few threatening attacks. However, Crystal Palace quickly capitalized on an Aston Villa error and scored the first goal.
In the 31st minute of the match, Crystal Palace’s Ismaila Sarr deftly beat the defense of Pau Torres and Lucas Digne before passing the ball to teammate Eberechi Eze. Eze unleashed a shot from the edge of the penalty area that flew like a cannonball towards the goal, with Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez unable to react in time and watching as the ball flew into the net.
In fact, Crystal Palace had almost broken the deadlock just a minute earlier. Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta broke free and fired the ball past Martinez. However, the goal was disallowed after referee Anthony Taylor ruled that Mateta had fouled an Aston Villa defender when he took the ball.

Aston Villa also came close to equalizing late in the first half. Ezri Konsa’s header from a corner was brilliantly saved by Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson. Crystal Palace also had a good chance to double their lead, but when Sarr crossed, Tyreek Mitchell slipped in the box and missed the chance to double the lead.
Aston Villa’s John McGinn and Lucas Digne both went close early in the second half. However, Crystal Palace goalkeeper Henderson did well to keep his team in the game, saving two consecutive shots from the air in the space of 30 seconds.
Crystal Palace had a golden opportunity in the 53rd minute. Eberechi Eze was brought down in the box by Boubacar Kamara and the referee pointed to the spot for a penalty. Mata stepped up to the spot and looked to double his side’s lead, but unfortunately his shot was wide of the right post. Aston Villa goalkeeper Martinez and his teammates were relieved to see Mata miss the penalty and their emotions immediately rose.
But they were too happy too soon. Just five minutes later, Aston Villa back-rower Yuri Tilemans lost possession in midfield and was brought down by Crystal Palace youngster Adam Walton. Walton played the ball to Sarr, who didn’t hesitate to unleash a powerful shot from 20 yards out, beating Martinez once again and extending Crystal Palace’s lead to 2-0.
Trailing by two goals, Aston Villa stepped up their attack in an attempt to turn the situation around. They threatened Henderson’s goal on several occasions, but could not find the back of the net. In the fourth minute of extra time, Crystal Palace took advantage of Aston Villa’s pressure and launched a quick counterattack. Sarr scored again on the counterattack to complete the second goal and end the suspense of the game. In the end, Crystal Palace beat Aston Villa by a huge margin of 3-0 to reach the FA Cup final for the first time since 2016.
In this match, Crystal Palace showed a very strong overall strength, solid defense and sharp offense. Although Aston Villa fought back hard, they were unable to break down the Crystal Palace defense and eventually had to accept defeat.
