Last weekend, Manchester United’s star striker Hoilund stated in an interview that he plans to remain at Manchester United for the upcoming season. However, Hoilund himself stated that he would stay, which seemed to contradict the external reports. Italian media outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport even directly claimed that Hoilund’s statements were “untrue,” adding that the actual situation was that the 22-year-old Danish player had privately expressed his desire to return to Serie A, and his agent had recently met with Inter Milan officials.
Inter Milan has now officially announced the appointment of new coach Zico, and the situation regarding the potential signing of Hoijlund may become clearer in the coming days. Renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano also revealed: “Inter Milan is indeed interested in Hoijlund; it all depends on whether the two clubs can reach an agreement.”
Meanwhile, La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Inter Milan not only inquired about Hoijlund’s situation but also asked about the transfer possibility of another Manchester United player, Zirkzee. However, Manchester United is only willing to set a price for Hoijlund, while head coach Amohr has made it clear that he wants to keep Zirkzee.
According to media reports, Manchester United has set a price tag of 40 million to 45 million euros for Hoijlend and prefers a direct sale rather than a loan. However, Inter Milan has a different approach, preferring a loan-to-buy deal, meaning they would first loan him for a season and then decide whether to buy him outright. This is because they believe Hoijlend is not thriving at Manchester United and may not get many opportunities to play if he stays.
Although Hojlund’s contract with Manchester United runs until 2030, if the club does not want to keep him, he may not be able to stay. After all, in the world of football, a player’s future is often not decided by himself.
